The Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees (River Tees Bridge) Scheme 2000 Confirmation Instrument 2000,

Made

17th July 2000

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in him (2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:

1. This instrument may be cited as The Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees (River Tees Bridge) Scheme 2000 Confirmation Instrument 2000 and shall come into force on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

2. The Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees (River Tees Bridge) Scheme 2000 ("the Scheme") is hereby confirmed with modifications.

3. The Scheme as confirmed is set out in the Schedule hereto (including the plan) and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plan as modified are deposited at the offices of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, and at the offices of the Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees at Municipal Buildings, Church Road, Stockton-on-Tees.

THE SCHEDULETHE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKTON-ON-TEES (RIVER TEES BRIDGE) SCHEME 2000

The Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees (hereinafter referred to as "the Council") make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf:-

1. The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the River Tees the bridge specified in the Schedule to this scheme as part of the highway which they are proposing to construct between Preston Farm and Ingleby Barwick in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees being the South Stockton Link Stage 3.

2. This Scheme may be cited as The Borough Council of Stockton-on-Tees (River Tees Bridge ) Scheme 2000.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEMEPLAN AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE RIVER TEES BRIDGE

The location and general design of the Bridge are shown on the plan numbered D1/H728/6/3A marked "The Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council (River Tees Bridge) Scheme 2000".

POINTS OF COMMENCEMENT AND TERMINATION

From a point on the North bank of the River Tees 827 metres south of the centre of the roundabout junction between Concorde Way and the South Stockton Link.

To a point on the South bank of the River Tees 933 metres south of the centre of the roundabout junction between Concorde Way and the South Stockton Link.

SPAN

A triple span of 106 metres overall.

HEADWAY

Not less than 5.5 metres above the maximum amenity water level upstream of the Tees Barrage of 2.85 metres AOD in the 16 metres central navigation channel and a minimum headway of 4.4 metres.

WATERWAY

A minimum clear navigable waterway of 38 metres.

OVERALL DIMENSIONS

The Bridge will be 28 metres wide overall and will carry a 7.3 metre wide dual carriageway, with a 1 metre wide hard strip and a footway and cycle way of 3 metres width on the west side of the structure.

MODIFICATIONS TO THE SCHEME

(1) Preamble to Articles, third line, delete "of the Highways Act 1980".

(2) Insert "2." before "This Scheme . . ." to create second Article.
