Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2000

The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11(5) and 23(7) of the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) Act 1997(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf and with the agreement of the Social Security Advisory Committee that proposals to make these Regulations should not be referred to it(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 4th December 2000.

Amendment of the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) Regulations 1997

2. In regulation 1(2) of the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) Regulations 1997(3) (interpretation) for the words "Reyrolle Building, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, NE31 1XB" there shall be substituted the words "Durham House, Washington, Tyne and Wear, NE38 7SF".

Amendment of the Social Security and Child Support (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 1999

3. In regulation 29(5) of the Social Security and Child Support (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 1999(4) (particulars required in respect of certificates of recoverable benefits) for the words "Reyrolle Building, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, NE31 1XB" there shall be substituted the words "Durham House, Washington, Tyne and Wear, NE38 7SF".

4. In regulation 33(2)(a) of the Social Security and Child Support (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 1999 (making of appeals and applications) for the words "Reyrolle Building, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, NE31 1XB" there shall be substituted the words "Durham House, Washington, Tyne and Wear, NE38 7SF".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) Regulations 1997 (S.I. 1997/2205) and the Social Security and Child Support (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 1999 (S.I. 1999/991) by substituting for the previous address of the Compensation Recovery Unit at Reyrolle Building, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, the Unit's new address at Durham House, Washington, Tyne & Wear, NE38 7SF. These Regulations do not impose a charge on business.
