The President of the Council, having been designated by the Treasury as having responsibility for the public service pension schemes referred to in article 2, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 27(3) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999(1) hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Pension Sharing (Excepted Schemes) Order 2000.
2. The public service pension schemes relating to the following offices are excepted:
Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury;
Lord Chancellor; and
Speaker of the House of Commons.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order excepts the public service pension schemes relating to the offices of the Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, Lord Chancellor and Speaker of the House of Commons for the purposes of section 27(1) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999. Section 27(1) makes provision for pension sharing other than in relation to an excepted public service pension scheme.
