The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by paragraph 3(2) of Schedule 1A to the Solicitors Act 1974(1), hereby makes the following Order-�
1. This Order may be cited as the Solicitors (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 31st March 2000.
2. In paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 1A to the Solicitors Act 1974, for the figure " £1,000" there shall be substituted the figure "£5,000".

This Order increases the maximum compensation that the Council of the Law Society may direct a solicitor to pay his client for inadequate professional services from £1,000 to £5,000.
