ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 7(3) of the Pollution Prevention and Control Act 1999(1), hereby makes the following Order-
1. This Order may be cited as the Pollution Prevention and Control Act 1999 (Commencement No. 1) (England and Wales) Order 2000.
2. Section 6(1) of and Schedule 2 to the Pollution Prevention and Control Act 1999 shall come into force on 21st March 2000 in so far as they extend to England and Wales.

Article 2 brings into force on 21st March 2000 section 6(1) of and Schedule 2 to the Pollution Prevention and Control Act 1999 in so far as they extend to England and Wales.
Section 6(1) brings into effect Schedule 2 to the 1999 Act. Schedule 2 contains a list of consequential and minor amendments. The consequential amendments are consequential on section 2 of the 1999 Act (regulation of polluting activities). There are two minor amendments, one to section 8(7) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (fees and charges to be paid to local authorities for authorisations) and the other to section 77(2) of that Act (waste disposal licences-transition from Part I of the Control of Pollution Act 1974).
