The Disability Discrimination Code of Practice (Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises) (Appointed Day) Order 2002

  Made 14th March 2002 

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 53A(6)(a) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995[1] hereby makes the following Order:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Disability Discrimination Code of Practice (Goods, Facilites, Services and Premises) (Appointed Day) Order 2002.

2. The day appointed for the coming into force of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Code of Practice on the Rights of Access to Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises (ISBN No.011 702860 6) issued by the Disability Rights Commission under section 53A(1) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 on 26th February 2002, is 27th May 2002.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order appoints 27th May 2002 as the date on which the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Code of Practice on the Rights of Access to Goods, Facilities, Services and Premises, issued by the Disability Rights Commission on 26th February 2002 ("the new code"), shall come into force. A regulatory impact assessment of the duties dealt with in the new code and the effect they would have on the cost of business is available from The Department for Work and Pensions, RIA Unit, 3rd Floor, Adelphi, 1-11 John Adam Street, London WC2N 6HT.
