The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1 and 4(2) of, and paragraphs 3 and 4 of Schedule 1 to, the Education Act 1962[1], and by sections 3(1) and (3) of the Education Act 1973[2], hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Mandatory Awards) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 1st September 2002.
2.
The Education (Mandatory Awards) Regulations 2002[3] shall be amended in accordance with these Regulations.
3.
In paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 3 for "subject to paragraph (2)" substitute "subject to paragraph (3)".
4.
- (1) Schedule 5 (Sandwich Courses) shall be amended as follows.
(2) In paragraph 1(1)(e) omit "a necessary".
(3) For paragraph (1)(1)(g)(i) substitute -
"
(i) a Health Authority or a Strategic Health Authority established pursuant to section 8 of the National Health Service Act 1977[4] or a Special Health Authority established pursuant to section 11 of that Act[5];".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Education (Mandatory Awards) Regulations 2002.
The amendments to paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 3 and 1(1)(e) of Schedule 5 correct drafting errors.
The amendment to paragraph 1(1)(g) of Schedule 5 refers to the new Health Authorities and Strategic Health Authorities established under the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002.
