The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Whereas in accordance with section 2(5) of the Supreme Court Act 1981[1] a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the power conferred on Her by section 2(4) of that Act, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: -
1.
This Order may be cited as the Maximum Number of Judges Order 2002, and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
2.
Section 2(1) of the Supreme Court Act 1981[2], prescribing the maximum number of ordinary judges of the Court of Appeal, shall be amended so as further to increase the maximum number of those judges to thirty-seven.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order in Council increases the maximum number of ordinary judges of the Court of Appeal from 35 to 37.
