The Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) (Revocation) Regulations 2002

  Made 2nd December 2002 
  Laid before Parliament 12th December 2002 
  Coming into force 5th January 2003 

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by sections 50 and 63(3) of the Education (No 2) Act 1986[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and application
     1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) (Revocation) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 5th January 2003.

    (2) These Regulations shall apply in relation to England.

Revocation and savings
    
2.  - (1) Subject to paragraph (2) the following Regulations are revoked - 

    (2) The Regulations mentioned in paragraph (1) shall continue to have effect in relation to bursaries and grants in respect of approved training in which a qualified teacher or classroom assistant began to participate or committed himself to participate before 5th January 2003.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations revoke the Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) Regulations 2002 (S.I. 2002/509), the Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 (S.I. 2002/756) and the Education (Bursaries for School Teacher Training) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2002 (S.I. 2002/1137) (regulation 2(1)). However, they remain in force in relation to bursaries and grants in respect of approved training in which a qualified teacher or classroom assistant began to participate or committed himself to participate before 5th January 2003 (regulation 2(2)).

[1] 1986 c. 61; section 50 was amended by section 278(6) of, and paragraph 102 of Schedule 19 to, the Education Act 1993 (c. 35) (which continues in force by virtue of paragraph 65 of Schedule 37 to the Education Act 1996 (c. 56)) and section 13 of the Education Act 1994 (c. 30); and section 63(3) was amended by paragraph 107(a) of Schedule 19 to the Education Act 1993. The Secretary of State can exercise the power under section 50 only in relation to England; see article 2 of and Schedule 1 to the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672).back
