The Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) (Amendment No. 4) Regulations 2003

  Made 30th May 2003 
  Laid before Parliament 5th June 2003 
  Coming into force 1st July 2003 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 113(1)(b), 114(1)(b), 115(1)(b) and 116(1)(b) of the Police Act 1997[1], hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) (Amendment No. 4) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st July 2003.

Amendment to the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) Regulations 2002
    
2. For regulation 4 of the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) Regulations 2002[2] there is substituted -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Police Act 1997 (Criminal Records) Regulations 2002 by substituting new fees for applications for criminal record certificates and enhanced criminal record certificates. The cost of a criminal record certificate rises from £12 to £24 and the cost of an enhanced criminal record certificate rises from £12 to £29. No fee is payable in relation to applications by volunteers for either criminal record certificates or enhanced criminal record certificates. The rises have effect from 1st July 2003.
