EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations further amend the Education (School Performance Targets) (England) Regulations 1998 (S.I. 1998/1532). They remove the requirement upon schools to specify a target for the percentage of pupils who will attain 5 GCSEs at grade A* to G including English and Mathematics. They also permit schools to amend the target they have set for the school year 2003-4 in relation to performance at Levels 4 and 5 in English and Mathematics by pupils at Key Stage 2 when they set such targets for the school year 2004-5. The regulations further provide that details of revised targets need not be published.
