The Discharge of Fines by Unpaid Work (Prescribed Hourly Sum) Regulations 2004

  Made 24th August 2004 
  Coming into force 25th August 2004 

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 6 to the Courts Act 2003[1] hereby makes the following Regulations, a draft of which has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Discharge of Fines by Unpaid Work (Prescribed Hourly Sum) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which they are made.

    
2. The sum prescribed as "the prescribed hourly sum" for the purposes of paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 6 (discharge of fines by unpaid work) to the Courts Act 2003 is £6.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations make provision for "the prescribed hourly sum" for the purposes of paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 6 (discharge of fines by unpaid work) to the Courts Act 2003 (c. 39). This is the sum used by the court to determine the number of hours of unpaid work required to discharge a fine that is the subject of a work order made under the Schedule, or calculate the amount outstanding following revocation of a work order.
