HOUSING, ENGLAND
The Housing Act 2004 (Commencement No. 1) (England) Order 2005
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 270(4) and (5) of the Housing Act 2004[1] hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and application
1.
- (1) This Order may be cited as the Housing Act 2004 (Commencement No.1) (England) Order 2005.
(2) This Order applies to England only.
Commencement
2.
The following provisions of the Housing Act 2004 shall come into force on 17th February 2005 -
(a) section 220, insofar as it is not already in force [2]; and
(b) sections 221 and 227.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings the following provisions of the Housing Act 2004 into force in England on 17th February 2005 -
section 220 (which extends the powers of the Housing Corporation to give grants to persons other than registered social landlords);
section 221 (which is related to section 220 and which extends the right to acquire in relation to a dwelling provided by means of a grant to a person other than a registered social landlord);
section 227 (which removes the duty on local housing authorities to send annual reports to tenants).
