PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The European Communities (Recognition of Qualifications and Experience) (Third General System) (Amendment) Regulations 2006

  Made 9th August 2006 
  Laid before Parliament 23rd August 2006 
  Coming into force 2nd October 2006 

The Secretary of State, being a Minister designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2], in relation to measures relating to recognition of higher-education diplomas, qualifications or experience required for the pursuit of professions or other occupations, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section, makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Recognition of Qualifications and Experience) (Third General System) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and come into force on 2nd October 2006.

    (2) In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations"[
a] means the European Communities (Recognition of Qualifications and Experience) (Third General System) Regulations 2002[3].

Production of certificates of experience
     2. —(1) For regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations[b] substitute—

Qualifications and Experience for Certificates of Experience
     3. In paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 (Qualifications and Experience for Certificates of Experience), for the words "the Secretary of State" substitute "ECCTIS Limited".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the European Communities (Recognition of Qualifications and Experience) (Third General System) Regulations 2002, which implemented Directive 99/42. They provide for mutual recognition in the Member States of qualifications in respect of certain activities.

These Regulations provide that the Secretary of State delegates the function of issuing certificates of experience to ECCTIS Limited.
