EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
The Electoral Administration Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional Provisions) Order 2006 (S.I. 2006/1972 (C. 67)) provided for the provisions of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 (c. 22) which relate to the regulation of loans to political parties, their members and members associations to commence on 11th September 2006. This Order amends that Order to provide that those provisions will not apply to minor parties, their members and members associations. Minor parties are parties that register under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (c. 41) in Great Britain, declaring under section 28(2)(d) of that Act that they intend only to contest one or more parish or community elections.
