The Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 24B(1) and (8) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 (1), makes the following Regulations:
1.–(1) These Regulations may be cited as the London Skills and Employment Board (Establishment) Regulations 2008 and shall come into force on 25th February 2008.
(2) In these Regulations–
"the Board" means the London Skills and Employment Board established under regulation 2;
"the Mayor " means the Mayor of London.
2. For the purposes of section 24B(1) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 there shall be established a body to be known as the London Skills and Employment Board.
3. The Board shall consist of the Mayor and not less than 12 and not more than 25 members other than the Mayor.
4. The Mayor shall be the chairman of the Board.
5.–(1) The Mayor shall appoint the other members of the Board with the approval of the Secretary of State.
(2) A person is to hold and vacate office as a member of the Board in accordance with the terms of his appointment set by the Mayor.
(3) Where a person has ceased to be a member of the Board during the period of his appointment, the Mayor may appoint another person for the remainder of that period.
(4) The Mayor may re-appoint a person to the Board.
(5) The Mayor may by giving notice in writing to a member remove him from office which shall then become vacant.
(6) A member of the Board may at any time, by giving notice in writing to the Mayor, resign his office as a member.

These Regulations provide for the establishment of the London Skills and Employment Board. The functions of the Board are set out in section 24B(2) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000 which was inserted by section 4 of the Further Education and Training Act 2007.
Regulation 3 makes provision about the membership of the Board.
Regulation 4 provides that the Mayor shall be the Chairman of the Board.
Regulation 5 makes provision about the appointment of members of the Board other than the Mayor.
