(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Greater London Authority (Limitation of Salaries) Order 2000 ("the 2000 Order").
Article 2 of this Order substitutes a new article 3 of the 2000 Order. This provides that, in relation to a term of office which begins on or after 1st May 2008, the salary otherwise payable to the Mayor of London or an Assembly member of the Greater London Authority must be reduced by two thirds if a salary, payable by virtue of membership of either House of Parliament or of the European Parliament, ("relevant remuneration") is also payable to that person.
The existing limit on salaries, whereby a salary otherwise payable to the Mayor of London or an Assembly member must be reduced by one third, if relevant remuneration is also payable to that person, continues to apply in relation to a term of office which begins before 1st May 2008.
