The A465 Trunk Road (Llangua Bridge to A49/A465 Belmont Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2008

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in her(2)–

1. This Order may be cited as the A465 Trunk Road (Llangua Bridge to A49/A465 Belmont Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2008 and shall come into force on 29th October 2008.

2. In this Order–

(i) "the plan" means the plan folio numbered HA 10/TD/032 marked "The A465 Trunk Road (Llangua Bridge to A49/A465 Belmont Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2008", signed by the authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the Department for Transport, Information Management Division, Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex, TN37 7GA;

(ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(iii) "the trunk road" means the A465 Trunk Road.

3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force.

SCHEDULE LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road starts from the centre of Llangua Bridge, coincident with the Monmouthshire/Herefordshire boundary, finishing at a point on the south western boundary of the A49/A465 Belmont Roundabout, Hereford but not including the circulatory carriageways or the south western splitter island of the Roundabout. It is shown by broad black dashes on the plan and is approximately 19 km in length.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order reclassifies the length of the road situated between the centre of Llangua Bridge, coincident with the Monmouthshire/Herefordshire boundary, to a point on the south western boundary of the A49/A465 Belmont Roundabout, Hereford but not including the circulatory carriageways or the south western splitter island of the Roundabout, so that it is no longer a trunk road, but becomes a principal road.
