The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11F(1), (6) and (7) and 104(4) of the Children Act 1989(1):
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Children Act 1989 (Contact Activity Directions and Conditions: Financial Assistance) (Revocation and Transitional Provision) (England) Regulations 2010 and come into force on 1st April 2010.
2.–(1) The Children Act 1989 (Contact Activity Directions and Conditions: Financial Assistance) (England) Regulations 2008(2) ("the Contact Activity Regulations") are revoked.
(2) Notwithstanding the revocation of the Contact Activity Regulations, the Secretary of State may continue to make payments in accordance with those Regulations in respect of a contact activity in which a qualifying individual takes part before 1st April 2010.

These Regulations revoke the Children Act 1989 (Contact Activity Directions and Conditions: Financial Assistance) (England) Regulations 2008, which made provision enabling financial assistance to be paid by the Secretary of State in respect of an individual ordered or directed by a court in family proceedings to take part in an activity that promotes contact with a child (regulation 2(1)).
By way of transitional provision, financial assistance may be paid after 1st April 2010 in respect of individuals who took part in contact activities prior to 1st April 2010 (regulation 2(2)).
