The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 192A(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988(1).
Representative organisations have been consulted in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Drink and Drugs) (Cambridgeshire Guided Busway) Regulations 2011 and they come into force on 5th August 2011.
2. In these Regulations-
(a)"the Act" means the Road Traffic Act 1988;
(b)"the TWA Order" means the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway Order 2005(2);
(c)"the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway" has the meaning which "the authorised guided busway" has in the TWA Order.
3.-(1) Sections 4 to 11 of the Act(3) apply to vehicles on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway with the modifications specified in paragraph (2).
(2) Those modifications are that-
(a)references to a "road" are deemed to include reference to the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway;
(b)references to a "motor vehicle" are deemed to include reference to a mechanically propelled vehicle intended or adapted for use on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

These Regulations apply sections 4 to 11 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, which provide for offences involving drink or drugs, to the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.
The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway is the guided busway system authorised by the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway Order 2005.
The principal offences under sections 4 to 11 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 involve driving, or being in charge of, a vehicle when unfit through drink or drugs (section 4) or with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit (section 5).
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
1988 c.52; section 192A was inserted by the Transport and Works Act 1992 (c. 42), section 39.
Section 4 was amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991 (c. 40), section 4, and the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 (c. 15), sections 111 and 174(2), Schedule 7, paragraph 27(1), (2) and (4) of Part 1, and Schedule 17, Part 2. Section 6 was amended, and sections 6A to 6E were inserted, by the Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003 (c. 20), section 107 and Schedule 7, paragraph 1. Section 6D was amended by the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, section 154 (1), (2) and (3).
