The University of Nottingham is a university in the United Kingdom providing courses of study and examinations leading to a veterinary degree.
It appears to the Privy Council, after consultation with the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, that the courses of study and examinations are sufficient to guarantee that holders of the degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Veterinary Surgery (B.V.M., B.V.S.) conferred by the said University will have acquired the knowledge and skill needed for the efficient practice of veterinary surgery and will have satisfied the requirements of Article 38 of Directive 2005/36/EC(1), as read with Article 22(a) of that Directive.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(1)(b) of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(2), their Lordships direct as follows.
1. This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons (Recognition of University Degree) (Nottingham) Order of Council 2011 and comes into force on 1st September 2011.
2. Anyone on whom the University of Nottingham confers the degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Veterinary Surgery (B.V.M., B.V.S.) is qualified to be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (and shall, on application in the manner and on payment of the fee prescribed by Regulations of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons made under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(3), be registered in the Register of Veterinary Surgeons and become a member of that College).

This Order provides for the recognition of the degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Veterinary Surgery (B.V.M., B.V.S.) conferred by Nottingham University. Such recognition enables the holder of such a degree to be qualified to be registered as a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Membership will occur on registration, after satisfying the relevant requirements of the College as to procedure and payment of a fee.

Section 11 was amended by article 2 of, and paragraph 13 of the Schedule to, S.I. 2008/1824. S.I. 2010/2854 provides for the manner of application and the payment of the fee.
