The Air Traffic Controller Licensing (National Supervisory Authority) Regulations 2011

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(1).

The Secretary of State is designated for the purposes of section 2(2) in relation to measures relating to air transport(2).

Citation, commencement and expiry

1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Air Traffic Controller Licensing (National Supervisory Authority) Regulations 2011 and come into force on 10th October 2011.

(2) They cease to have effect at the end of 31st December 2014.

National Supervisory Authority

2. The Civil Aviation Authority is the national supervisory authority and the competent authority for the United Kingdom for the purposes of Article 4 and Article 27 of Commission Regulation (EU) No 805/2011 of 10th August 2011(3) laying down detailed rules for air traffic controllers' licences and certain certificates pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008(4) of the European Parliament and of the Council.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations specify the Civil Aviation Authority as the national supervisory authority and the competent authority for the United Kingdom for the purposes of Articles 4 and 27 of Commission Regulation (EU) No 805/2011 of 10th August 2011 (OJ No L206, 11.8.2011, p.21) laying down detailed rules for air traffic controllers' licences and certain certificates pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 (OJ No L79, 19.3.2008, p.1) of the European Parliament and of the Council. Regulation 805/2011 contains provisions for the training and licensing of air traffic controllers, the issue of medical certificates and the certification of training organisations.

These Regulations cease to have effect at the end of 31st December 2014.

A regulatory impact assessment has not been provided for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
