This Order is made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(2) of the International Organisations Act 1968 ("the Act")(1).
A draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament pursuant to section 10(1) of that Act.
Accordingly, Her Majesty is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is ordered, as follows-
1. This Order may be cited as the International Renewable Energy Agency (Legal Capacities) Order 2011 and shall come into force on the date on which the Statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency signed in Bonn on 26th January 2009(2) enters into force in respect of the United Kingdom.
2. The International Renewable Energy Agency is an organisation of which the United Kingdom and other sovereign Powers are members.
3. The International Renewable Energy Agency shall have the legal capacities of a body corporate.

This Order confers the legal capacities of a body corporate on the International Renewable Energy Agency (-�IRENA') which promotes the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms or renewable energy. IRENA was established by the Statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency (-�the IRENA Statute') adopted in Bonn on 26th January 2009. The United Kingdom signed the IRENA Statute on 26th June 2009.
Article XIII of the IRENA Statute requires members to confer legal capacity on IRENA. This Order will enable Her Majesty's Government to give effect to its obligations under Article XIII and will come into force on the date that the IRENA Statute enters into force with respect to the United Kingdom.
A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
