Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Digital Economy Act 2010 (Appointed Day No.2) Order 2012.

Appointed Day

2. 1st May 2012 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Digital Economy Act 2010 come into force-

(a)section 41(1);

(b)paragraphs 2 to 4, 6 to 9, and 10(2) of Schedule 1 (and section 41(2) so far as it relates to those provisions); and

(c)the entries in Schedule 2 relating to sections 4 and 22 of the Video Recording Act 1984(2) (and section 45 so far as it relates to those entries).

Article 2 of this Order appoints 1^st May 2012 as the day on which the provisions mentioned in paragraphs (a) to (c) of that article come into force. Section 41(1) of the Digital Economy Act 2010, and paragraphs 2 to 4, 6 to 9 and 10(2) of Schedule 1 to the 2010 Act, make amendments to the Video Recording Act 1984 so that a new authority may be designated under section 4 of that Act as the authority responsible for making arrangements in respect of video games. The Secretary of State will lay a proposed designation for the "video games authority" before both Houses of Parliament and in accordance with the procedure specified in section 5 of the 1984 Act.

This Order also appoints 1st May 2012 as the day on which section 45 comes into force for the purpose of the repeals mentioned in Schedule 2 of the 2010 Act relating to section 4 and 22 of the Video Recordings Act 1984.
