The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 54 of the Trade Marks Act 1994(1).
In accordance with paragraph 24 of Schedule 7 to the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007(2), the Secretary of State has consulted the Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council before making this Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Trade Marks (International Registration) (Amendment) Order 2013 and comes into force on 31st March 2013.
2. The Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 2008(3) is amended as follows.
3.-(1) Schedule 2 (which sets out modifications to provisions of the Trade Marks Act 1994 which apply to International Trade Marks (UK)) is amended as follows.
(2) In paragraph 6 (which inserts section 38A into the Trade Marks Act 1994), in the text of section 38A(5) set out in that paragraph, for "beginning with" substitute "beginning immediately after".
4. In Schedule 3, paragraphs 2(6) and 3(3), for "beginning with" substitute "beginning immediately after".
5. In Schedule 4, paragraph 1(4), for "beginning with" substitute "beginning immediately after".
6. Where immediately before this Order comes into force, any period of time prescribed by the provisions referred to in this Order has effect in relation to any act or proceeding and has not expired, those provisions as amended by this Order shall apply in determining the expiry of that period.

This Order amends various time periods prescribed in the Trade Marks (International Registration) Order 2008 (S.I. 2008/2206) by substituting a reference to "beginning immediately after" for the references to "beginning with", so that when computing a period of time by reference to a relevant event, the date on which the relevant event occurred is not included.
