Her Majesty, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by sections 13(1) and 37(5) of the Registered Designs Act 1949(1), makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Designs (Convention Countries) (Amendment) Order 2013 and comes into force on the 6th April 2013.
2.-(1) The Designs (Convention Countries) Order 2007(2) ("the 2007 Order") is amended as follows.
(2) In the list of countries set out in the Schedule to the 2007 Order:
(a)after "Saint Vincent and the Grenadines" insert "Samoa"; and
(b)after "Uzbekistan" insert "Vanuatu".

This Order amends the Designs (Convention Countries) Order 2007 (S.I. 2007/277) under powers conferred by sections 13(1) and 37(5) of the Registered Designs Act 1949 to fulfil the international obligations of the United Kingdom as a member of the World Trade Organisation (‘WTO') Samoa became a member of the WTO on the 10th May 2012 and Vanuatu on the 24th August 2012. This Order declares that Samoa and Vanuatu are convention countries for the purposes of the Registered Designs Act 1949.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on the costs of business.
