The Lord President of the Council makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25(1) and 27(1) of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013(1).

1.  This Order may be cited as the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2013.

2.  Section 6 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 (amendment of Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986) comes into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force, on the day after the day on which it is made, section 6 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 (c.6). That section provides for the first review of parliamentary constituencies by the Boundary Commissions under the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986 (c.56), as amended by the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011 (c.1), to be completed between 1st and 30th September 2018 instead of by 1st October 2013. The section also requires the arrangements for the review of the effects of the reduction in the number of constituencies brought about by the 2011 Act to be made in 2020 instead of 2015.
