The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 1(1) of the Marshall Scholarships Act 1959(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Marshall Scholarships Order 2017 and comes into force on 23rd January 2018.
2. In section 1 of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Act 1953(2) (funding of Marshall scholarships), for "forty" substitute "50".
3. The Marshall Scholarships Order 1972(3) and the Marshall Scholarships Order 1990(4) are revoked.

This Order increases from 40 to 50 the annual number of Marshall scholarships that may be provided at universities in the United Kingdom to citizens of the United States of America who are graduates of recognised institutions of higher learning in the United States of America.
An impact assessment has not been prepared for this instrument because no impact on the private sector, civil society organisations or public services is foreseen.

1953 c. 39 (1 & 2 Eliz.); section 1 was amended by section 1(1) of the Marshall Scholarships Act 1959, the Marshall Scholarships Order 1972 (S.I. 1972/961) and the Marshall Scholarships Order 1990 (S.I. 1990/990).
