The National Citizen Service Act 2017 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2017

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 14(2) and (3) of the National Citizen Service Act 2017(1):

Citation and interpretation

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the National Citizen Service Act 2017 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2017.

2.  In these Regulations "the Act" means the National Citizen Service Act 2017.

Provisions coming into force on 13th December 2017

3.  The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act is 13th December 2017-

(a)Schedule 1 and section 2 (transfer schemes);

(b)paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 and section 11 (consequential amendments), so far as it relates to that paragraph.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations are the first commencement Regulations made under the National Citizen Service Act 2017 (the "Act"). The provisions of the Act specified in regulation 3 come into force on 13th December 2017. The provisions specified in regulation 3(a) are concerned with the power of the Secretary of State to make transfer schemes relating to the National Citizen Service. The provisions specified in regulation 3(b) operate to disqualify the chair of the National Citizen Service Trust for membership of the House of Commons.
