The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 129(1) of the Education Reform Act 1988(1).
1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (Designated Institutions) (England) Order 2018 and comes into force on 22nd June 2018.
(2) This Order applies in relation to England.
2. Leeds College of Music(2), being an institution which appears to the Secretary of State to fall within section 129(2) of the Education Reform Act 1988, is designated as an institution eligible to receive support from funds administered by a higher education funding council(3).

This Order designates Leeds College of Music as an institution eligible to receive support from funds administered by a higher education funding council.
An impact assessment has not been produced for the Order because it has no impact on businesses, civil society organisations or the public sector. The Explanatory Memorandum is published alongside the instrument on www.legislation.gov.uk .
1988 c.40; section 129 was amended by sections 72 and 93 of, and schedule 9 to, the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (c.13), by S.I. 2009/1941, and is amended by paragraph 9 of schedule 11 to the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 (c.29), which is not yet in force.
Leeds College of Music, whose address is 3 Quarry Hill, Leeds LS2 7PD, is an institution conducted by Leeds College of Music Limited, a registered company with company number 07596410.
By virtue of S.I. 2018/253, powers previously exercised by the Higher Education Funding Council for England to administer higher education funds pursuant to section 65(1) of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (c.13), are transferred to the Office for Students for a period that began on 1st April 2018 and expires on 31st July 2019. By virtue of that instrument the reference to a higher education funding council in section 129 should, during this period, be read to include the Office for Students.
