The Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred by section 87(2)(g), (h) and (i) of the Coronavirus Act 2020(1), and with the consent of the Scottish Ministers and the Northern Ireland Department of Finance and the Northern Ireland Department of Justice, makes the following Regulations:
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Coronavirus Act 2020 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2020.
(2) In these Regulations, "the 2020 Act" means the Coronavirus Act 2020.
2. The following provisions of the 2020 Act come into force immediately after these Regulations are made-
(a)section 18 and schedule 13 (registration of deaths and still-births etc.);
(b)section 19 (confirmatory medical certificate not required for cremations: England and Wales); and
(c)section 21 (modifications of requirements regarding medical certificates for cremations: Northern Ireland).

These Regulations bring into force, immediately after these Regulations are made, sections 18, 19 and 21 of, and schedule 13 to, the Coronavirus Act 2020 (c. 7) to ease the requirements around certification and registration of deaths and still-births in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and to modify the requirements for cremations in England and Wales and Northern Ireland.
