The Power to Award Degrees etc. (NCG) Order of Council 2016 (Amendment) Order 2023

Coming into force

1st June 2023

The Office for Students, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 45(1) of the Higher Education and Research Act 2017( 1), makes this Order.

The Office for Students has requested advice from the relevant body regarding the quality of, and standards applied to, higher education provided by the provider, and has had regard to that advice in accordance with sections 46(1)(c) and (7) of that Act.

The Office for Students has complied with the procedure on giving notifications in accordance with section 48 of that Act.

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Power to Award Degrees etc. (NCG) Order of Council 2016 (Amendment) Order 2023 and shall come into force on 1st June 2023.

Variation of Power to Award Degrees etc. (NCG) Order of Council 2016

2.—(1) The Power to Award Degrees etc. (NCG) Order of Council 2016( 2) is varied in accordance with paragraph (2).

(2) For article 2, substitute—

2.   NCG shall be competent to grant awards of the kind mentioned in paragraph (a) of section 76(2) of the said Act for an indefinite period.

This Order varies NCG’s existing Degree Awarding Powers authorisation so that it remains valid indefinitely.
