An application has been made to the Secretary of State in accordance with the Transport and Works (Applications and Objections Procedure) (England and Wales) Rules 2006( 1) for an Order under sections 1 and 5 of the Transport and Works Act 1992( 2) (“ the 1992 Act”).
The Secretary of State has determined to make an Order giving effect to the proposal comprised in the application with modifications which in the opinion of the Secretary of State do not make any substantial change in the proposals.
Notice of the Secretary of State’s determination was published in the London Gazette on 2nd January 2024.
The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1 and 5 of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to, the 1992 Act, makes the following Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Northampton and Lamport Light Railway (Amendment) Order 2024 and comes into force on 18th January 2024.
2.—(1) The Northampton and Lamport Light Railway Order 1995( 3) is amended as follows.
(2) In article 7 (as to level crossings on the Brampton Valley Way), after paragraph (1), insert—
“(1A) The Company is to operate, at the point where public right of way CC4 crosses the railway, a new level crossing suitable for a footpath. ”
(3) In Schedule 1, for “the northern abutment of Bridge No. 11 (south of Pitsford & Brampton Station) in a northerly direction for a distance of 4,800 metres” substitute “a point immediately to the north of the site of the former Boughton level crossing over the railway by the junction of the A5199 Northampton Road and Brampton Lane, in a northerly direction for a distance of 5,550 metres”.

This Order amends the Northampton and Lamport Light Railway Order 1995 ( S.I. 1995/1300) to authorise an extension of the railways operated by Northampton Steam Railway Limited, and for related purposes.
