COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) (AMENDMENT) RULES, 1975.

I, MARK CLINTON, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1948 (No. 24 of 1948), as amended by section 7 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby make the following rules:

1. (1) These Rules may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Rules, 1975.

(2) The Committees of Agriculture (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1959 to 1972, and these Rules may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1959 to 1975.

2. The following rules are hereby substituted for Rules 2 and 3 of the Committees of Agriculture (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1959 ( S.I. No. 100 of 1959 ), (inserted by Rule 2 of the Committees of Agriculture (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Rules, 1969 ( S.I. No. 70 of 1969 )) as amended by the Committees of Agriculture (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Rules, 1972 ( S.I. No. 295 of 1972 ):

" 2. The amount of an allowance payable under the first subparagraph of paragraph (a) of section 3 (3) of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1948 (No. 24 of 1948), by a Committee of Agriculture to a member of the committee or an approved subcommittee of such committee in respect of his attendance at a meeting of such committee or subcommittee held on or after the 18th day of June, 1974, shall be--

( a ) in the case of a continuous period of not less than three hours but less than seven hours--two pounds twenty-five new pence, and

( b ) in the case of a continuous period of not less than seven hours--three pounds twenty-five new pence.

3. Where a resolution under clause (ii) of the second paragraph (inserted by the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958)) of Section 3 (3) (a) of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1948 , is in force in relation to a Committee of Agriculture or an approved subcommittee of such committee and a meeting of the committee or subcommittee is held on or after the 18th day of June, 1974, the amount of the allowance which the committee shall pay to the member of the committee or subcommittee who--

( a ) attends the meeting at a place less than five miles by any route from his ordinary place of residence, and

( b ) was obliged by occasion of such attendance to remain away from his home for a continuous period of not less than three hours.

shall be an amount not exceeding three pounds fifty new pence".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Rules prescribe the amount of the allowances payable to members of Committees of Agriculture in respect of attendance at meetings of the committee or of an approved subcommittee.
