Courts and Court Officers Act 2002 (Sections 19 to 21) (Commencement) Order 2002

I, Michael McDowell, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1(2) of the Courts and Court Officers Act 2002 ( No. 15 of 2002 ), hereby order as follows:

1.         This Order may be cited as the Courts and Court Officers Act 2002 (Sections 19 to 21) (Commencement) Order 2002.

2.         The 1st. day of October, 2002, is appointed as the day on which sections 19, 20 and 21 of the Courts and Court Officers Act 2002 come into operation.

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

The Order provides that -

-  section 19 - Extension of jurisdiction of Circuit Court and District Court under section 21A of Family Law (Maintenance of Spouses and Children) Act, 1976;

-  section 20 - Extension of jurisdiction of Circuit Court and District Court under section 23 of Family Law (Maintenance of Spouses and Children) Act, 1976; and,

-  section 21 - Extension of jurisdiction of Circuit and District Court under Guardianship of Infants Act, 1964

of the Courts and Court Officers Act 2002 shall come into operation on 1 October 2002.
