"the Order" means the Genetically Modified Organisms (Northern Ireland) Order 1991[3];

"the Regulations" means the Genetically Modified Organisms (Deliberate Release) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003[4].

    (2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954[5] shall apply to these regulations as it applies to an Act of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Revocation and replacement of provisions for the Advisory Committee for the purposes of the Order
     3.  - (1) Regulation 37 of the Regulations shall be revoked and replaced as follows.

    (2) After Article 22 of the Order there shall be inserted -

" Advisory Committee
     22A.  - (1) The Department shall appoint a Committee to provide it with advice -


(a) on the exercise of its powers under Articles 8, 9 and 10;

(b) on the exercise of any power under this Order to make regulations,



and on such matters concerning the Department's functions under this Order as the Department may from time to time direct.

    (2) The Chairman and other members of the Committee shall hold and vacate office in accordance with the terms of their appointment.

    (3) The Department shall pay to the members of the Committee such remuneration (if any) and such allowances as it may determine.".
