HOUSING

The Houses In Multiple Occupation (Registration Scheme Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004

  Made 31st March 2004 
  Coming into operation 1st May 2004 

The Department for Social Development[1], in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 75C(5) of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1992[2], and now exercisable by it[3], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the Houses In Multiple Occupation (Registration Scheme Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2004.

    (2) In this Order "a house" means a house in multiple occupation as defined in Article 75(1)[
4] of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.

Maximum Registration Fee
     2. The maximum fee payable on a first registration of a house under the registration scheme shall be the amount payable in accordance with the registration scheme in respect of the registration of a house with 10 occupants.

Cases where no fee is payable
    
3. No fee is payable on first registration or on any renewal of registration in respect of a house managed by a University, a Hospital, a Registered Charity, the Executive or a Registered Housing Association.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Order specifies in accordance with Article 75C(5) of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 the maximum fee that may be charged by the Housing Executive for registration of a house in multiple occupation. It exempts Universities, Hospitals, Registered Charities, the Executive and Registered Housing Associations, from payment of a registration fee on first registration or on any renewal of registration.
