INTERNATIONAL IMMUNITIES AND PRIVILEGES

The European Communities (Definition of Treaties) (European School) Order 2001

  Made 14th November 2001 
  Coming into force 15th November 2001 

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 14th day of November 2001

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 1 of the European Communities Act 1972[1] ("the Act") and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

     Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(3) of the Act or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: - 

     1. This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Definition of Treaties) (European School) Order 2001 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it was made.

    
2. The Treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order is to be regarded as a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.

SCHEDULE
Exchange of Notes dated 20 December 2000 and 12 January 2001 between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Board of Governors of the European School amending the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Board of Governors of the European School concerning the European School at Culham (Cm. 5094).



EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order declares the Exchange of Notes dated 20 December 2000 and 12 January 2001 between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Board of Governors of the European School amending the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Board of Governors of the European School concerning the European School at Culham (Cm. 5094) to be a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972. The principal effect of declaring the Exchange of Notes to be a Community Treaty as so defined is to bring into play, in relation to it, the provisions of section 2 of the European Communities Act 1972 which provides for the implementation of Treaties so specified.
