The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[1] or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: -
1.
This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Privileges of the European School) Order 2001. It shall come into force on the day after the day on which it was made.
2.
The European Communities (Privileges of the European School) Order 1990[2] shall be amended as follows -
(1) After Article 4(2) there shall be inserted the following new paragraph: -
"
(3) The School shall be accorded a refund of insurance premium tax and air passenger duty paid by the School in the exercise of its official activities."

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order confers relief by way of refund from payment of insurance premium tax and air passenger duty. The Order enables the United Kingdom to give effect to an Exchange of Notes dated 20 December 2000 and 12 January 2001 between Her Majesty's Government and the Board of Governors of the European School (Cm. 5094).
